In his first official action in anticipation, of taking over the leadership of this great nation , President Elect Barack Obama encouraged everyone to put aside self interest  and offer up some time and energy in serving others.  By putting others first we demonstrate, by our actions, that we care about  those we are serving.  These significant service gestures, universally applied in all walks of our lives, can have transformational impact on our society.

The business malaise we find our economy drifting through, has been impacted by many factors; greed, incompetence, dreadful planning, felonious behavior, deception  and deceit .  Those individual and companies , many of whom we know, but far too many are still hiding like cowards beneath the rubble they have created.  One soon to be very visible factor will be recognized as a serious contributor to our economic downfall.  In article after article, in discussion after discussion we are beginning to hear the outcries about the crisis in service that exists throughout business.  Customers and clients have fled retailers and suppliers.  Casualties lie everywhere.

President Elect Obama has it right.  His approach suggests that in serving others, you make them feel good about themselves and then they turn around and feel good about you. That relationship is what establishes loyalty and when you are loyal to someone else; you really do not want to leave that relationship.  If this notion can become the foundation of our relationships and business dealings going forward, we perhaps will be surprised by how fast we come out of this horrible recession.

How you do... what you do, determines who you become and how you will be remembered going forward.  Try it; it works....
